Jesus Is The Answer

“Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah”

Psalms 61:1-4

There will be moments in life, hard moments, that you feel overwhelmed, discouraged and disappointed. It’s so easy in these moments, if you aren’t careful, to try and drown out the problem. You begin to busy yourself and fill your time with menial tasks in hopes of quieting the thoughts bombarding your mind. You don’t want to think about or allow yourself to feel anything that's uncomfortable, so you keep busy. You do everything you can to distract yourself from the pain of the problem, but you've really just distracted yourself from the voice of God. In that moment you've unknowingly disengage from the fight for the promise and entered into a place of passivity.

I know all too well how great the pain can be, but I have always found that God is greater. In times of our greatest pain, He doesn’t leave us to deal with it on our own, He's always so very faithful to lead us through. God goes before you, He stands beside you, and He walks behind you. God is always with you. In moments of disappointment and pain, it's ok and dare I say encouraged, to sit in silence and process through the thoughts and the emotions you are feeling. Your emotions have the ability to serve as an internal warning light if you will choose to listen instead of react. They tell you that something inside needs to be addressed. Once you are able to see your internal experiences as significant, you are better able to engage in the process of healing and reengage in the fight for the promise. Never allow shame, failure or guilt keep you from going to God with your struggle. God isn't mad at you and will never be disappointed with your honesty. He's compassionate, gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love and faithfulness. God longs for you to talk to Him about everything. True intimacy involves communication. No matter how much you struggle, the answer is always to come to Jesus.

Your soul should be reminded in these moments that Jesus plus nothing is all you will ever need. He's the answer for every problem that will ever arise in your life. He's the peace you need in the storm. He's the hope you need in despair, and the answer to every prayer you will ever pray. He is always faithful and He is always with you. Through every season, through every obstacle and disappointment, Jesus is enough. He is always near, always present, and always working on your behalf. He has and will forever be the answer to every problem you may encounter in life. My your soul rejoice knowing that JESUS plus nothing is everything you will ever need!
