Hope Grows in the Wait

“But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.” – Romans 8:25 (NKJV)

Before the doctors had answers—before anyone could even explain what was happening inside my body—I walked through about eight months of ER visits, unanswered questions, and a level of pain and anxiety I never knew existed. Every week felt like a blur of hospital visits, panic, and exhaustion. It was one of the hardest seasons I’ve ever faced.

But it was in that place—in the in-between, in the meantime—that I had to make a decision: Would I let what I felt define what I believed? Or would I come back—again and again—to what I knew to be true about God?

I didn’t always feel strong, and I certainly didn’t always feel encouraged. But I made a choice—to stay rooted in His presence. I clung tightly to His promises and became intentional about guarding the words that came out of my mouth. I kept returning to His Word—not because I felt confident in those moments, but because I was confident in the One who never wavers—the One who is steady when everything else feels uncertain.

Romans 8:25 reminds us that “if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.”

It was right there in the waiting that I began to understand, on a completely different level, what it truly means to trust God. Trust isn’t just believing He’ll come through—it’s surrendering to how and when He does. It’s releasing the need for control, even when fear is screaming loud.
It’s choosing to say, “Even if I don’t understand this, even if nothing changes today, I still believe You are good. I still believe You are God.”

This is what it means to trust in the meantime.
To lean into His presence when your mind wants to spiral.
To keep showing up in prayer even when you feel unheard.
To believe He’s working—especially when you can't see it in the natural.

Faith isn’t passive. It’s a daily decision to trust the character of God, even when the way forward is uncertain. It’s choosing to show up with expectancy, even when your emotions are weary. It’s refusing to let what you see dictate what you believe.

I want to encourage you—even in the pain, even in the uncertainty, you are not alone. God isn’t just waiting for you at the finish line; He’s right here in the thick of it. In every quiet moment, every anxious step, and every stretch of the unknown, He is walking with you. Though you may not see it yet, He is faithfully working on your behalf, graciously leading you through the meantime.

Faith Declaration:

Lord, I choose to trust even when I cannot see. In the waiting, in the silence, and in the unknown, I trust You. Not just for what You can do—but for who You are. Strengthen my heart, anchor my soul in Your Word, and remind me daily that You are faithful in the meantime.
